EURADOS Virtual Annual Meeting 2021

Normal life continues to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our beloved Annual Meeting was planned in Belgrade in 2021, but given the large uncertainties about the pandemic we are forced to turn AM into a totally virtual event.

As in previous years, the AM2021 will include:
- the EURADOS General Assembly that will take place online on 3 February 2021
- the 14th EURADOS Winter School that will be devoted to the topic of “Foetal radiation risk: dose assessment in occupational, medical and emergency situations”. This event will take place online on 3 and 4 February 2021
- the meetings of EURADOS Working Groups will take place online within the two weeks before the General Assembly between 19 January and 2 February 2021.
- the intercomparison IC2019exteye virtual participants’ meeting will be organised in the first months of 2021. The dates will be communicated as soon as possible.

Registration is now open. For details on the agenda and registration, please download the announcement. To stay updated, please visit the EURADOS website and follow on EURADOS social media.

Despite the very special circumstances, we hope that this event will enable the dosimetry community to stay in touch, strengthen existing contacts and develop new ones, and foster the emer-gence of innovative scientific ideas.

We do hope that in 2022 we will be able to meet in person again in Belgrade, Serbia!

EURADOS Report 2020-05

A new EURADOS Report (Report 2020-05) is now available: A model validation scheme for Monte Carlo simulations of a medical linear accelerator: geometrical description and dosimetric data used in the “Linac Action”, by Barbara Caccia, Valentin Blideanu, Maïwenn Le Roy, Hans Rabus, Rick Tanner. Please, download the Report at the EURADOS publications webpage

Open positions

A PhD position at PTB

Division 8 “Medical Physics and Metrological Information Technology” is looking for a doctoral candidate in physics, computer science or mathematics to join us as soon as possible. The position is available on the basis of a 3-year fixed-term contract. You will be employed at the PTB Berlin site. Within the doctoral thesis, you will investigate to what extent Monte-Carlo simulations of radiation transport can be accelerated by coupling them with machine learning methods, using the intermediate results of the simulation to train a neural network. If interested, please download the announcement and visit the dedicated PTB web page.

Conference and course

ETRAP 2021 Conference

The 7th International Conference on Education and Training in Radiation Protection (ETRAP 2021) will take place online on 23-26 March 2021. The conference intends to bring together training providers, policy makers, radiation protection experts, regulators and authorities and end-users . It will discuss the latest findings and developments in education and training in radiation protection in nuclear industry, healthcare, research centers and governmental organizations.

This conference is organized by the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre SCK CEN and the University of Groningen, in collaboration with EUTERP, IRPA and IAEA. The deadline for abstracts is 18 December 2020. For further information, please visit the conference webpage
