European Radioecology Alliance - ALLIANCE
The Director Generals of eight organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2009 and established the European Radioecology Alliance. Members of the Alliance bring together parts of their respective research and development programmes into an integrated programme that maintains and enhances radioecological competences and experimental infrastructures, and addresses scientific and educational challenges in assessing the impact of radioactive substances on humans and the environment.
European Joint Programme for the Integration of Radiation Protection Research – CONCERT
The ‘CONCERT-European Joint Programme for the Integration of Radiation Protection Research’ under Horizon 2020 was operating as an umbrella structure for the research initiatives by the radiation protection research platforms MELODI, ALLIANCE, NERIS, EURADOS and EURAMED. CONCERT was a co-fund action that aimed at attracting and pooling national research efforts with European ones in order to make better use of public R&D resources and to tackle common European challenges in radiation protection more effectively by joint research efforts in key areas.
European Association of Nuclear Medicine – EANM
The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) is the largest organisation dedicated to nuclear medicine in Europe. In this role, it has become the umbrella organisation which represents the whole sector towards the European Institutions and other international institutions.
European Federation of Organisations for Medical Physics – EFOMP
The mission of EFOMP is:
- to harmonise and advance medical physics both in its professional clinical and scientific expression throughout Europe,
- to strengthen and make more effective the activities of the NMOs by bringing about and maintaining systematic exchange of professional and scientific information, by the formulation of common policies, and by promoting education and training programmes.
European Society of Radiology – ESR
Founded in 2005, by merging the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) and the European Association of Radiology (EAR), the European Society of Radiology (ESR) is an apolitical, non-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening and unifying European radiology.
European Society of Radiotherapy & Oncology – ESTRO
ESTRO’s vision statement for 2030 ‘Radiation Oncology. Optimal Health for All, Together.’ emphasizes the ambition of the Society to further reinforce radiation oncology as core partner in multidisciplinary cancer care and to guarantee accessible and high-value radiation therapy for all cancer patients who need it.
European Association of National Metrology Institutes – EURAMET
Its mission is to develop and disseminate an integrated, cost effective and internationally competitive measurement infrastructure for Europe. Always taking into account the needs of industry, business and governments. With their services the association supports its members to meet their national requirements and to establish a balanced European measurement infrastructure. To enhance benefits of metrology to society is one of the highest priorities for EURAMET and its members.
European Training and Education in Radiation Protection – EUTERP
The EUTERP Foundation is recognised by its Associates, National Contact Points and the European Competent Authorities as the focus for radiation protection training information for RPEs, RPOs and radiation workers.
The objective of the Platform is to obtain the position of Centre with respect to all education, training and recognition activities in the European Union. It establishes close links with all these projects and organisations. The results of the various projects to be disseminated by the Platform in an effective way throughout the European Union and they also be used as input for further work of the Platform. Furthermore, the Platform acts as an advisory body for the European Commission on education and training issues. Within the Platform it is discussed whether the use of standardised training material in the various countries, identifies the training needs and facilitates in the support and assistance of establishing a high standard of radiation protection in all European countries.
Heads of the European Radiological Protection Competent Authorities – HERCA
HERCA is a voluntary association in which the Heads of Radiation Protection Authorities work together in order to identify common issues and propose practical solutions for these issues. HERCA is working on topics generally covered by provisions of the EURATOM Treaty. The programme of work of HERCA is based on common interest in significant regulatory issues.
European Nuclear Installations Safety Standards Initiative – INISS
ENISS provides the nuclear industry with a platform to exchange information on national and European regulatory activities, to express its views and provide expert input on all aspects related to international safety standards.
Multidisciplinary European Low Dose Initiative – MELODI
MELODI is an European Platform dedicated to low dose radiation risk research.
European Platform on prepardness for nuclear and radiological emergency response and recovery – NERIS
The mission of the NERIS Platform is to establish a forum for dialogue and methodological development between all European organisations and associations taking part in decision making of protective actions in nuclear and radiological emergencies and recovery in Europe.
Nuclear Generation II and III Association - NUGENIA
The Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technology Platform (SNETP) was established in September 2007 as a R&D&I platform to support and promote the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Generation II, II and IV civil nuclear systems. Since May 2019, SNETP has been operating as an international non-profit association (INPA) under the Belgian law pursuing a networking and scientific goals.
Realizing the European Network of Biodosimetry – RENEB
The goal of RENEB is to establish a sustainable European network in biological dosimetry involving 23 organisations from 16 countries identified by the TENEB survey, that will guarantee highest efficiency in processing and scoring of biological samples for fast, reliable results implemented in the EU emergency management.
Social Sciences and Humanities - SSH
As a cross-cutting issue of broad relevance, Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) research is fully integrated into each of the general objectives of Horizon 2020. Embedding SSH research across Horizon 2020 is essential to maximise the returns to society from investment in science and technology.
