World Health Organization

WHO works worldwide to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable. Its goal is to ensure that a billion more people have universal health coverage, to protect a billion more people from health emergencies, and provide a further billion people with better health and well-being.

International Commission on Radiological Protection - ICRP

ICRP is:

  • An independent, international organisation that advances for the public benefit the science of radiological protection, in particular by providing recommendations and guidance on all aspects of protection against ionising radiation.
  • A charity (not-for-profit organisation) registrered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales.
  • A community of more than 250 globally-recognised experts in radiological protection science, policy, and practice from more than 30 countries.

International Atomic Energy Agency - IAEA

The IAEA is the world's centre for cooperation in the nuclear field, promoting the safe, secure and peaceful use of nuclear technology.

International Commission on Radiation Units and Measurements – ICRU

ICRU develops and promulgates internationally accepted recommendations on radiation related quantities and units, terminology, measurement procedures, and reference data for the safe and efficient application of ionizing radiation to medical diagnosis and therapy, radiation science and technology, and radiation protection of individuals and populations.

International Labour Organization – ILO

The only tripartite U.N. agency, since 1919 the ILO brings together governments, employers and workers of 187 member States , to set labour standards, develop policies and devise programmes promoting decent work for all women and men.

International Organization for Standardization – ISO

ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization with a membership of 165 national standards bodies. Through its members, it brings together experts to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based, market relevant International Standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.

International Solid State Dosimetry Organisation – ISSDO

This International Solid State Dosimetry Organisation (ISSDO) was created in 1992 with the goal to promote and to assist in the organisation and to ensure the continuity of the International Conferences on Solid State Dosimetry.

Nuclear Energy Agency – NEA

The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) is an intergovernmental agency that facilitates co-operation among countries with advanced nuclear technology infrastructures to seek excellence in nuclear safety, technology, science, environment and law. 

Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group – PTCOG

The Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group (PTCOG), founded in 1985, is a non-profit worldwide organization of scientists and professionals interested in proton, light ion and heavy charged particle radiotherapy. The mission of PTCOG is to promote science, technology and practical clinical application of particle therapy, with the ultimate goal of improving treatment of cancer to the highest possible standards in radiation therapy.

US EPA Radiation Protection Division

Its mission is to protect human health and the environment.

US NRC Radiation Protection

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is charged with protecting people and the environment from unnecessary exposure to radiation as a result of civilian uses of nuclear materials.

US NRC Regulatory Guides

The Regulatory Guide series provides guidance to licensees and applicants on implementing specific parts of the NRC's regulations, techniques used by the NRC staff in evaluating specific problems or postulated accidents, and data needed by the staff in its review of applications for permits or licenses.

National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements, USA

The National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP) seeks to formulate and widely disseminate information, guidance and recommendations on radiation protection and measurements which represent the consensus of leading scientific thinking. The Council is always on the alert for areas in which the development and publication of NCRP materials can make an important contribution to the public interest.
